The Toronto Jazz Orchestra

Josh Grossman is the founding Artistic Director and Conductor of the Toronto Jazz Orchestra (TJO). Formed in 1998, the TJO is an 18-piece big band made up of graduates from Toronto’s top university and college jazz programs – the city’s emerging jazz talent.

Over the past 14 years, the TJO has released three full-length recordings (available from CD Baby), has performed with Phil Nimmons, Ingrid Jensen, Seamus Blake, Geoffrey Keezer and Kurt Elling (among others), and has presented a variety of special programs including tributes to the Thad Jones/Mel Lewis, Stan Kenton and Duke Ellington orchestras, a complete performance of the music from Miles Ahead with trumpeter Kevin Turcotte, and the Radiohead Jazz Project.
